The Man to Man Project

What is the Man to Man Project?

The Man to Man Project is an educational mentorship outreach for students primarily in Tulsa Public Schools. They provide free tutoring and life skills development opportunities for students, ranging in age from 12 to 20. Since its beginning, the impact has grown to serve more than 350 students across Tulsa.

Dexter Sullivan Speaking | Man to Man Project with Launch Academy

In 2015, Launch Academy Tutoring Company was proud to be able to partner with The Man to Man Project.

Why did we even decide to do this?  Well, here’s some statistics just from the Tulsa area:

  • In the 2012-2013 School Year, 725 students dropped out of Tulsa Public Schools (source)
  • 83%  of students are on a free/reduced lunch (source)
  • 8 Tulsa Schools received an “F” rating (source)
  • Children in father-absent (or mentor-absent) homes are almost four times more likely to be poor (source)
  • Around 40 percent of our nation’s inmates do not have a high school degree (source)
  • A Northeastern University study found that, on any given day, one out of every 10 male high school dropouts are in the criminal justice system. One out of every four Afterican-American male high school dropouts is in jail. (source)

It goes without saying that this is a crisis.  That’s why we at Launch Academy knew we had to do something and partnering with the Man to Man Project was our way of fighting back.

With every tutoring session, we proudly donate 5% of all our profits to the Man to Man Project.
